Halloween Party

At work today we had a Halloween Party. I was running very late this morning, so I didn't dress up. But Trey and Smith did! Smith was a frog. He wore his costume for about 5 minutes before he over heated, so no photo yet. Trey was a little devil/demon. I think it fits him. We went trick-or-treating to all the cubicles in my office. It took him a while, but once he figured out you can walk up to anyone and they will give you candy, there was no stopping him. Half the candy I brought to pass out ended up in his bucket. Can't wait for tomorrow!

And then there was one...

Last week I posted a story about our dog Wake that ran away. I was so worried about him that Nate finally picked him up from the pound, even though we swore we wouldn't.

Today I was giving the boys a bath when someone started ringing the door bell. I ignored it, after all, I can't leave babies alone in the bath. Then they pounded on the door and rang again. Finally I wrap the kids in towels and go to the door, and what do I find? A police officer and our dog Max on a rope. He tells me the other one (Wake) got away, but I should check the pound in a couple days. Not likely. Meanwhile I've got a naked kid in each arm wrapped in towels and the cop is asking for my drivers license. Great! Why does this stuff always happen when Nate is at work?

Here is the hole in the fence where they got out. Max's has been really well behaved in the house so far. Good thing too, cause I don't know if I can fix this in the dark.

UPDATE: I just got the kids to bed and went out to the yard to fix the fence and found Wake sitting in the grass, I guess we are back to two dogs again. Duh!

1 – I don’t like lettuce. I don’t want it on my sandwich, hamburger or my salad. I prefer a pile of veggies with dressing on top, and that’s usually what I get when I go to a salad bar. But spinach in salad is good.

2 – I’m a little sensitive to caffeine. I can’t have any coke after about 11am or I am up all night. I am still a little shocked when I see people having a coke with dinner. How do you do that?!?

3 – I love a good count down. I started count down the days for my pregnancy the day I found out I was pregnant. I also like to count down the days to holidays and the hours left in the work day or till bedtime or the miles left in a trip. I also like to reward myself for every milestone. (i.e. 172 miles to Vegas, eat a skittle, 171 miles, skittle, 170 miles, skittle...)

4 – The volume on the TV, radio, my phone, whatever, MUST be an even number whenever possible.

5 – Like a lot of people I save plastic grocery bags, But I like to carefully fold them up and tie them in a knot so they don’t take up so much space.

6 – I like to eat raw dough. Cookie dough, bread dough, cake batter, pancake batter, all of it. delicious. I still think this is perfectly normal, but Nate keeps telling me that it's not.

Work in the morning

I get the boys to bed at 9. I spent a little time decompressing from the day and went to bed myself around10:30 or 11. At 11:30 Trey woke up screaming. I was a little worried about him cause he had had a fever today. So I got him up and did my best to meet his needs. It's now 12:45 and he is finally calming down. So naturally Smith is starting to stir. I have feeling it is going to be like this all night. My first day back at work is tomorrow. It may not be a good one.

That Dog...

We got his dog from my brother a little over a year ago. His name is Wake. In that time he has run away from home 4 times. The first two times we bailed him out of the pound. The second time it was very expensive so we vowed if he ran away again, he was on his own. We even talked about giving him away for a while. A couple months ago I went out to check on the dogs and the kennel was open. Max (the good dog) was just hanging out in the yard and Wake was gone. I was kind sad, but we had already made up our minds. A couple days later Nate was riding his bike home from work when a big brown dog started chasing him. It was Wake.

Last week he ran away again. This time Nate was out in the yard with the dogs and he just disappeared. Nate was not interested in checking the pound, this was the 4th time in about a year. At first I totally agreed with him. Wake eats a ton of food, he smells bad, he's always slobbering on us and he runs away all the time. We don't need that. All week I've been worried about him, what if he got hurt, what if he gets put to sleep, what if, what if... I guess I was more vocal then I realized. Yesterday Nate and Trey went to the pound without telling me and brought Wake home. YEAH! I guess he's kind of grown on me.

Little Helper

Every time I try to get something out of the oven Trey goes straight for the pot holders. Today he wanted to put them on his hands and feet. You can never be to careful.

South Carolina

We made it to South Carolina and back again. YEAH! As I am sure you all know I was very worried about the flight out there. We left at midnight. It was not fun for me at all! The kids selpt about half of the time which is about as good as I could have hoped for. With the help of a few saintly strangers we made it there. I showed up in baggage claim with Trey strapped into his car seat, the car seat strapped to the stroller, Smith strapped to my chest and an overstuffed backpack on my back. (I brought way to much stuff on the plane) We were all very tired and ready to be done. Just as we enter the parking garage my mother turns to me as says "You know I didn't even look to see what section I was parked in, I hope I can find it..." At one point she left me and the kids to search on her own. I called to check on her progress and I could hear the car alarm, but she still couldn't find it. After 45 minutes, much wondering about, and a little cursing she found the car.

Once we got to Nana and Papa's house we had a blast! Trey loved playing pin ball and swimming in the pool. And I loved being able to relax and pass the baby off to my parents. The main reason we went out was to see my Dad after his surgery. He is feeling much better and doing great! It was really nice to spend so much time with him. And as a bonus, Jill and her kids came down for the weekend too, so I got to see Alaina for the first time.

Here are some pictures from the trip. I tried to post different one then Jill did, so you can check here blog for more pictures.

The flight home was a little easier. My mom and her friend flew out with me so I had some more help. It's a good thing too because on the last leg of the flight we had to make an emergency landing in Denver because a woman on the flight had a really bad allergic reaction. That was a first for me. I've missed flights, been delayed on the ground and in the air, but never had to make an unscheduled landing. Good news is the lady is going to be fine. And if anyone is thinking about flying with a toddler. I recommend bringing the car seat on the plane. Huge hassel, but totally worth it.

Wish Me Luck

Tonight at midnight I will be flying to South Carolina, with a layover in Atlanta with this:And This:

And No
I must be out of mind! But once we get on the plane I only have to make it through 7 and 1/2 hours and one layover. AAAAH!!!

New Trick

I know he's not a dog, but I did teach Trey a new trick today. He can now balance a fruit loop on his nose untill I say "OK" then he knocks it off and eats it. Sorry this picture is blurry. I was laughing when I took it.
