Trey explains it all

Here is how Trey explained to me the phenomenon of going to sleep in Mom's bed and waking up in his bed:

"And I go to sleep in Mommy bed and then it's Trey bed, and you go to sleep Mommy and you can't see me. You say 'where's Trey?' and I'm in my bed. But first it was Mommy bed and then Trey's bed and then I just wake up."

Got it?

Camp Fire

Back in January we took down the Christmas tree and put it out back. Trey cried when we did, and when we tried to cheer him up by saying we were going to burn it, he came unglued.

3 months later he has warmed up to the idea, so pun intended.

We burned the tree and made campfire dinners over the embers with a little buffalo meat from my grandparents. The tree made a lot of sparks and burned fast and high. Now I wish we had another one. Next year...

Quilt!

For Christmas Nate gave me an extension table for my sewing machine so that I could quilt my own quilts. (like top stitching)

Today I finally got to do it on a real quilt.

t
I was far from perfect, but it was so fun and I am really excited to try it again soon. I have a whole stack of quilt tops that I have made over the years but didn't want to pay to have quilted (gets pricey) This one is for my friend Stephanie. It turned out a little "Happier" then I had intended, but I still like it.

Zoo Day

We spent a day at the Zoo. It was really fun. Smith really wanted to see a giraffe and Trey was really want to see a kangaroo. Luckily we found both.

My favorite was the Ape house. It was still pretty cold out so they gave the apes sheets to help keep them warm this is the big daddy orangutan. He was all huddled up at the window with his sheet. Loved it!
And here are my little monkeys.

Um, Happy Anniversary...

On the evening of March 15 Nate was at work and I was home poking around on Facebook. I saw an old college friend of Nate's post about her anniversary. Then I though, "Hey they got married about the same time we did."

So I quickly texted Nate and said something like "Hey, I just remembered it's our anniversary tomorrow, what do you want to do?"

Then I thought about it some more and realized, "No, today is our anniversary! Oops."

Which reminded me of a funny story.

While Nate and I were engaged he did an internship with the fire dept that included several 12-hour shifts and a couple 24-hour shifts. One day, about 2 months before our weddding, but after the invites had been printed, Nate handed me a calendar and a list of dates. He had just scheduled his days for the internship and asked me mark the calendar while he drove. I went down the list, marking as I went, until I got to March 15th.

Me: "Nate, what is special about March 15th?"
Nate: "What?"
Me: "Why is March 15th special?"
Nate: "Am I working a 24?"
Me: "Yes, but that is not why it's important"
Nate: "What is it?"

8 years later and clearly we were made for each other.

Provo Fire Cruise

Provo Fire Cruise 2011 was a hit! This year we went to the Mexican Riviera, starting in L.A. That's the first time I have gone anywhere but the Caribbean. It was a blast. We had 12 couples in all. That's a record for us.

We saw a lot of wild life on this cruise. Above saw one of many seals
Here is a whale. I know you can see it very well, but trust me, it's there.
Not pictured are the two different types of dolphins we saw.

we I love the towel animals. This is a rabbit, I couldn't really tell at first.
Lobster, love it.
Scary Monkey.

Getting on the boat.
Just some of the Fire Wives in Cabo. We went to Cabo two days in a row because apparently it was to dangerous to go to Mazatlan as originally planned. Which was fine with me. Cabo was fun.

Hello Hot Stuff! This is Nate at Lover's Beach, which was lovely. On the other side is Divorce Beach, which is too dangerous to swim in. And that is what I stressed to all of our fellow cruisers on the way over, because my uncle went in there and almost drowned last year. Then Nate and I went over there and nearly got sucked out to sea ourselves. I should have listened to my own advice.

Headed back to the boat after a day on the beach.

We had a blast, and I can't wait for next year when we will hopefully go again.

Las Vegas

So turning 30 is kind of a big deal, right? So I wanted to do something kind of big to celebrate. So of course we loaded the kids up in the car and drove to Vegas. Yeah! We had so much fun last year when we went I wanted to do it again. We did all the usual stuff, fountains at bellagio, lion at MGM, tram at Mandalay, Volcano, M&M store (where we discovered coconut m&m, yummy) etc.

Here are a few of the new things we did.
Hello Kitty, and M&M characters that scared the crap out of the boys.
Went to Circus Circus. Still just as trashy as I remembered it, but we watched a few of the very brief circus acts while we spent a few bucks in the arcade. And in the end the boys each got to take home a little stuffed flower, so it was worth it.

Went to the Luxor

Went swimming for hours at the hotels HEATED pools even though it was really cold outside. Nate didn't believe I could get all 4 of us in the picture. Ha, I did it.

Saw the mermaid at the Bass Pro/ Silverton Casino. It was pretty cool. She just swam around in this great big tank with a bunch of big fish and blew kissed at the boys and stuff.

It was a great trip.

I'm Thirty! Whoo!

That's right, the BIG 3 - 0. I turned thirty in February. Yeah!

This was the only thing I asked for and I got it! Thank you Nate! These are from the Cocoa Bean Cupcake Cafe in Provo. Yum, I love these!

Boys loved them too!

My friends Jeremy, Lauren, Teri and Bristol all came over for a pizza dinner to celebrate. They were kind enough to bring a cake and these awesome candles too.
