Green Shake

Lately Nate has been making and drinking a special shake everyday. We call it the “Green Shake”. It is made of carrots, oranges, strawberries, a banana and raw spinach. The first time Trey tried it he gagged and heaved and wiped his tongue with a wet wipe. I don’t think it tastes bad at all, but something about the texture, flavor and color together just don’t sit well with me. Today Trey appears to have finally come around. This prompted Nate to announce “He is my son!”

Sorry about the crappy video, we took this with our cell phone.

Baby Logan

We went up to see Rob, Lisa, and baby Logan on Sunday. Trey was pretty interested in the baby. He was very gentle and soft. He was kind of petting the babies head like he does the neighbors cat. This made me very happy. I’ve been worried about how he will react when I bring a new baby home. Seeing him be so gentle with Logan gave me a lot of comfort and I thought maybe this won’t be as bad as I feared… for about 3 minutes. Then Trey said “Duh” and slapped him on the shoulder.

Good Boy

Last night Trey was up way past his bedtime. So naturally he was very moody this morning. Around 11:30 he was throwing a major fit. Nate took him to his room and left him there to calm down. A few minutes later he got really quiet so Nate went back to check on him. I guess Trey knew he would feel better after a nap. He had climbed INTO his crib and was just waiting for Nate to give him his blanket. All this 2 hours before normal nap time. Good Boy!

The picture above doesn't have anything to do with the nap, I just thought it was cute.

27 Days...

I know it's not possible to know the exact day I will go into labor, but I need to have something to shoot for. So I have just 27 days until my due date. and hopefully 27 days or less until the baby comes. YEAH! I had a Dr appointment today and my doc says my weight gain and belly size are exactly where they should be, but I still seem to surprise people. I got a "You're still pregnant?" at work today.

Tag

I’ve been “tagged” by a few people, so I am finally getting it done.

How To Play This Game of Tag: List: 3 joys, 3 fears, 3 goals, 3 current obsessions/collections, 3 facts about yourself. Tag people at the end of your post by leaving their names. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

3 Joys
1. The shaved ice from the Snow Shack by the Orem pool. A delicious way to cool down on a hot day. I count down the days till opens every year.
2. Nate. I know that is kind of predictable, but what can I saw, we were made for each other.
3. Trey. Especially when I get to see him learn a new skill or word. It’s still amazes me that he has grown and changed so much in just 2 years.

3 Fears
1. From reading other peoples blogs, this seems to be a pretty common fear. I worry that something will happen to Nate or Trey. Especially when Nate is really late coming home from work in the morning and hasn’t called me.
2. The dark. I know, I’m a grown woman, but I’m still afraid something is going to get me if I walk down the hall with the lights off. Luckily at my house there is a switch at both ends of the hall.
3. The dentist! Just the thought of going to the dentist makes me sick. I don’t like people messing around with my teeth.

3 Goals (short-term)
1. Clean out the storage unit.
2. Finish all the books I bought this year. 3 down about 20 more to go
3. Pick a name for the baby before it’s born. 33 days left, give or take.

3 current obsessions/collections
1. Food storage. This one is kind of waning now that we actually have some.
2. Getting the house “ready” for the baby. I am definitely in the nesting phase right now and it’s driving Nate crazy. Probably cause I feel the need to get stuff “ready” that doesn’t really have anything to do with the baby, and I can’t do on my own. Like painting the garage for example. I need it to be painted.
3. Amish friendship bread. Someone gave me a start for it in May and I am still making it. Only I don’t like to pass out starts to other people, so I just double the batch and freeze them. We have about a dozen loafs in the deep freeze right now.

3 Facts
1. I like salads, hold the lettuce.
2. Pet peeve – people talking on their cell phones while using a public bathroom. Or any bathroom for that matter.
3. I taught graphic design at Provo College, but only for one semester. I would love to do it again.

Bath Time

Trey is basically Nate's shadow. He wants to go everywhere Dad goes, and he wants Dad to go everywhere with him. I think this will be a real blessing when the new baby finally comes. For now it's just really cute. Tonight when it was time for Trey's bath he wouldn't even come into the bathroom until Nate came too. Once in the tub he kept pulling Nate's hand to get him into the tub. Luckily Nate had just gotten back from testing out the jetski and was still in his swim shorts. I just had to take a picture.

Happy 4th

Happy 4th of July! Nate had to work in the morning, so Trey and I went with Dave, Emily, Codi and her girls up to Brighton for the 4th of July breakfast. We used to do this every year when I was younger, but this was the first time I had gone back up since I've been married. It was really fun! Plus a lot of family was there. Rob and Lisa came down, a bunch of aunts, uncles, and cousins and Grandpa Bud himself. Yeah!My favorite part was relaxing at the cabin after breakfast. Much easier to keep track of Trey indoors then out.
Trey's favorite part was digging in the dirt for ants. He loves bugs.
We didn't stay for the parade this time, maybe next year.

Later that night we got together with our neighbors for our other Independents Day tradition, Cul-de-Sac of Fire! Basically we just have a neighborhood BBQ and let off fireworks. Trey had a great time until the fireworks started. After that it was hard to tell. He wanted to see what was going on, and wouldn't go inside, but he also refused to be put down and held my hands over his ears the whole time. At one point he notice Nate lighting fireworks and got really upset until he stopped and held him. I'm not sure if he just wanted Dad, or didn't like him playing with fire, but he didn't seem to mind when I was lighting fireworks.
