Elephants, Robots and a mouse
It's week 3 of my new life as a stay-at-home-mom. I'm doing pretty good but this weekend I needed a little break from the "stay-at-home" part. So I packed up the boys and spent the night at the cabin. It was wonderful!
The best part of the weekend was our little hike last night. We didn't go far, just up behind the cabin. The whole time Trey kept pointing out big rocks and calling them "E, elephants". Sometimes they were sleeping, sometimes they were scary or funny. Then he pretended the trees were robots that wanted hugs or kisses. When he saw a hole in the ground he said there was a mouse. Once it bite him and another time he squished it. It was sometimes hard to understand what he was trying to say, but he was so excited, and he kept it up for nearly an hour.
I know this sounds a lot like the silly pretend play of most 2, 3 and 4 year olds and not particularly noteworthy. But for me it was kind of a moment. He has had a significant speech delay. He has made huge progress in the last few months. This is the first time I have seen him pretend play for so long. Or at least the first time he has been able to tell me about it.
We are so proud of his progress.

GNO w/ FFWC
Girls Night Out with the Fire Fighters Wives Club. aka GNO w/ FFWC. This month we really went for and did an all nighter.
In all 10 wives (only 9 pictured) went up to Heber and spent the night at Amy's parents cabin. Thank you Amy! We made some really yummy pizza, ate lots of treats and stayed up way way to late talking. It was well after 2 am before I went to bed. I felt like I was in high school again.
The next day we went to Swiss Days. That was a first for me. There were tons of cute crafty things and more delicious food. We had so much fun. I feel very lucky to be a part of this group. Thank you ladies!

School Update
Trey seems to love pre-school. Singing, playing, coloring and snack time. What's not to love?
The big surprise for me was how independent he is at only 3 years old. We got the bus schedule worked out. His first day on we was all smiles.
The next day was neighborhood preschool. Nate helped him put on his shoes and backpack in the house. Trey waved and said good bye in his special way that really means "you wait here while I go do this". Nate watched from the window while Trey walked the two doors down to preschool by himself without looking back. The next day he did the same thing to me when the bus came. Out the door and onto the bus. Bye Mom...

First Day of School x2
Trey started Pre-school this week. Twice.
First one was Tuesday at my next door neighbors house. He's been watching the other preschool kids play in her back yard all year. Now he finally gets to go too. It went great! I'm sure it helped that he knew some of the other kids and the teachers from the neighborhood.
Second one started on friday. It was through Alpine school district. Few glitches with this one. Starting with the bus not showing up. We have been telling him all week about riding the bus, but it was not to be. He didn't want me to leave when we got there and wouldn't take off his back pack at all. After 30 mins I was finally able to sneak out. He seemed okay when I picked him up, until all the kids got on the bus except him. He had a little meltdown. We are hoping to have the bus thing worked out in time for preschool on Wednesday.
The teacher said he did "pretty good" I was feeling a little proud until she added "It will just take a few days for him to adjust". That doesn't sound good. The only other thing I could get out of her was, he was "a little stubborn". No surprise there.
