The best part of the weekend was our little hike last night. We didn't go far, just up behind the cabin. The whole time Trey kept pointing out big rocks and calling them "E, elephants". Sometimes they were sleeping, sometimes they were scary or funny. Then he pretended the trees were robots that wanted hugs or kisses. When he saw a hole in the ground he said there was a mouse. Once it bite him and another time he squished it. It was sometimes hard to understand what he was trying to say, but he was so excited, and he kept it up for nearly an hour.
I know this sounds a lot like the silly pretend play of most 2, 3 and 4 year olds and not particularly noteworthy. But for me it was kind of a moment. He has had a significant speech delay. He has made huge progress in the last few months. This is the first time I have seen him pretend play for so long. Or at least the first time he has been able to tell me about it.We are so proud of his progress.

I think that is great! I love it when they play pretend and you get a glimpse of their little minds at work... completely noteworthy, not to mention hilarious!
you are an awesome mom! I need to take more time to take my kids out and play with them and just hang out.
Sounds like you had a fun time at the cabin and it's wonderful that the preschool has been so beneficial for Trey already. Congrats!

That's awesome. Way to go Trey. I always call those rocks elepants too. On the way to flaming gorge there is a section i call the elephant graveyard. You are such a great mom!
