Good morning winter, now go away

This is what I woke up to this morning. Normally not a big deal, but it's the end of May! And I already planted my garden. My great big, bigger then I really need garden.


Trey loved it of course. He always seems to find some fun in everything, even when I am miserable :)
My poor garden. What I have lost for sure, 3 watermelons, 2 cantaloupe, basil, 4 eggplants.
Still in jeopardy; 10 tomatoes, 3 tomatillos, 12 bell peppers, 4 jalapenos, dill, zucchini and yellow squash.

I have covered most of the tomatoes and peppers but the rest of them are going to have to fend for themselves when the temp dips into the 30s again tonight.

You would think this was the first time they had ever seen snow. Trey picked up a handful of snow and said "look mom, breakfast snow!"

Brothers

It's so nice to see them getting along for a change. :)

Roomba Rodeo

This went on for about 15 minutes until the battery finally died.

My new Hybrid!

I didn't really do much to make this. It just kind of happened on it's own, one of the wonders of nature, but I thought it was really really cool.


A few years ago my mom and I planted a ton of tulips in my front yard. I love seeing them bloom every year. This year was extra rewarding when I found this hybrid tulip. We planted red tulips and yellow tulips, but this one has 3 1/2 red petals and 2 1/2 yellow petals. I didn't even know you could do that. Awesome!

Fire Quilt

This year I got to help put together a quilt for an event at Nate's work. Don't tell, but I am still not exactly sure what it was. I do know that the quilt was the main prize in a raffle on the last day, and that the money raised went to The Burn Camp. I'm told they raised a record amount this year. A little of $1,500.

Adventures in Potty Training

I took the boys to Carl's Jr to eat and play on the playground. But first we made a pit stop at the bathroom. Seems like Trey is more likely to go when we're out then when we're home. When we got to the counter Trey proudly and loudly announced "Mommy peed!" I shushed him. So he went over to the man at the fountain drinks and said even louder (if that is possible) "Mommy peed! I'm proud." I'm sure the whole dinning room could of heard him. But I guess it's still progress.

Saying Goodbye

In January we attended 2 family funerals in one week. Nate's Grandpa Smith Broadbent passed in his sleep . (this is who we named our little Smith after) He was a Chemistry teacher at BYU and though he was retired he continued to do research and write papers for years afterward. At the luncheon after his funeral the ward decorated the tables with these centerpieces. I thought it was a very nice touch.

Nathan's Grandma "Needy" (Nate's Mom's Mom) passed away after a bad fall. She had lived in Utah for a long time before moving to Seattle with Nate's family. Nate's parents brought her back here to be buried beside her husband in Salem. We were also able to have a very beautiful service for the family here those that knew her when she lived here.
