First Campout

Kind of. Nate was planning to camp out in the back yard with Trey on Friday but ended up having to work. I was feeling adventurous, so I decided to try it on my own. Thing started out pretty good. I got the tent set up a lot quicker then I thought I would on my own. This pic is only half way.
I think I would have gotten done even quicker if Trey didn't keep running away with the tent poles. I chased after him, but I think he thought it was a game.

No afternoon with Trey would be complete without a few tears. This is him after I finally got the pole for the rain cover away from him.

I gave him a cheese stick to cheer him up. He fed almost all of it to the dogs, but it did cheer him up! :) I think the dogs liked it too.
Here's the set up. Trey in the play pen and me in the sleeping bag next to him. I even brought out a chair and a flash light so I could read for a while after i put trey down.


Here he is relaxing in my chair before bed. The plan was to get him dressed for bed, read some books, put him in the play pen, and say good night. Same routine as usual, just in a tent. While we were getting dress Trey started to show me how quickly and easily he can get in and out and in and out of his play pen. That was my first clue that it might not work out.



Two hours later I was getting very sleepy, but Trey was showing no signs of slowing down. Camping is just way more exciting then I realized. We abandoned the tent and both had a very good night sleep in our own beds, indoors. Maybe Nate will have better luck next week.

Ta Da

I didn't have anything fun to say about this week so I am posting a video of Trey being cute from a couple weeks ago. Sometimes I forget to turn my camera the right way when I switch from still shots to video, so you may need to cock your head. I was trying to get him ready for bed, when he decided he wanted to wear my socks instead. He must of thought he looked pretty stylish.

Check back next week for more updates though. I am heading out to Boston tonight for a few days. Work is sending me to a Design conference out there and I am really excited. And by a happy coincidence, my Dad will also be in Boston part of the time I am there. Hopefully we will be able to meet up for dinner or something.

Nate and Trey decided to make the most of their time together and have flown out to Seattle to visit some family and friends. Should be really fun! We will post more pics and stories next week when we are all home again.

Fire Fighter Parade

Spanish Fork Fire Department is celebrating it's 100th anniversary this month. Today they had a parade with fire trucks and engines and ambulances from all over the state. Nate got to drive the engine from Provo (see above photo). Trey and I went down to watch. To start the parade Life Flight flew their helicopter over the parade route a couple times very low and slow. Trey love helicopters! We live very close to a hospital so we get to see them often, and he LOVED that part of the parade. Next came all the fire vehicles with their horns and sirens going full blast. Trey was terrified! I had to hold him and cover his ears the whole time and if I moved even a little to readjust he would tighten his grip like his life depended on it. Towards the end I think started to like it because he started to wave to the people on the trucks and engines, but he never let go of me.Before the parade started when only the helicopter had gone by and we were still having fun.

The had several really old vintage trucks in the parade too. These are some of the cooler ones.

The plan was to have 100 vehicles for a 100 years, I'm not sure if they made it, but they probably came really close.

After the parade we went to the park where the it ended. We said hi to Dad, had some cake and got to see all the engines up close. Good times!

Lately Trey has started to hold his crayons and pens with just his finger and thumb, instead of holding it in his fist. I don't know if this is a milestone or anything, but I thought it was cute to see such a little guy holding the pen like a grown up.

Cruise!

We just got back from a great cruise with some of our friends. There were 9 of us all together. We went on Norwegian Cruise Line. Not my favorite line, but it was still tons of fun. We stopped in Roatan Honduras first. (see pic of Nate kissing a fish) I think this was my favorite stop. Mostly we just laid on the beach and snorkeled off the shore. We stopped here last year too, and there has been a ton of development since then. But the sea life seems to have survived it so far. The snorkeling was great! The highlight for Nate was ordering deep fried Yellowtail for lunch and getting the entire fish.

Our second stop was Belize. The boys went scuba diving on the reef, and the rest of us went snorkeling near by. The water was pretty choppy but we say some small rays, a lobster and lots of fish. Afterwards our guides took us back to a little private island for a few hours. It's the end of tourist season there so we were the only cruise ship in port, so things were a little slow for the local. Which means we had the whole island pretty much to ourselves! It was awesome. There were tons of sea shells all over the beach. I took a few handfuls of tiny ones home. One of our friends found some huge conch shells just lying on the sand.

Third stop was Cozumel Mexico. The boys went scuba diving again. Nate say a reef shark and and some more rays. I was pretty sunburned so I went with a couple of the other girls on a reef tour in a semi-submarine thing. I was worried it would be cheesy, but it was actually really cool. Just like snorkeling, only i didn't have to get wet, and there was someone telling us the names of everything we were seeing. After that we went shopping!

Our last stop was a private beach owned by the cruise line. More snorkeling for most of us. We also rented a huge floating raft, big enough for 3 people. I spent most the day floating on the water and getting really really sunburned. But that's okay, it was the last day.

Good Morning

Trey usually gets up between 7 and 7:30 in the morning, and he always makes a lot of noise to let me know. The other day he still hadn't gotten up by 7:45 so I went to wake him up myself and get him ready for daycare. Turns out he was awake already, he had just been quietly trying to take his shirt off by himself. I thought it was cute so I took a picture.

Bath Time

Trey Loves Bath Time! Lately he has been taking a cup and a spoon or straw with him. He like to stir water or bubbles or the wash cloth around in the cup. Last night he discovered a new trick. Spinning the cup on the straw. He kept doing this for about 15 minutes and only stopped when he saw me watching the video I had just taken. Then he wanted to watch too.
