Week in Review

So I am a little behind. We had a lot going on last week, but we managed to keep it pretty low key.

First off was Father's Day. Nate work Sat, Sun, & Mon so we didn't get to celebrate at home. But Trey and I did meet him and his partner and family at a park near the station for a little picnic on Saturday, so we will count that. I got him the Aerosmith edition of Guitar Hero, but it won't be released until next week. Sorry no pics.

Next up was Nate's birthday, we celebrated on Tueday. We got a sitter and went out for a nice dinner and a movie. Something we used to do all the time before kids, but now we only do on special occasions. We saw Iron Man. Loved it! I got him a special backpack for when he does triathlons. Again, I have no pics. However Nate's niece Jackie made him a birthday card and drew a picture on it of him blowing out his candles with a fire extinguisher, of course.Next was Trey's birthday on Thursday. I kind of feel bad, especially after the huge fuss I made for him last year, but we didn't actually do anything this year. We were at the grocery store on Wednesday and happened to walk past some Hotwheels. We grabbed a few on the way out the door and wrapped them up for him. Later that night we went to the rodeo in Pleasant Grove. We didn't actually take him for his birthday, but if he ever asks, we'll tell him we did. :) He didn't seem to care for any of the real rodeo action, but he loved to climb up and down the fence and look at the baby cows.

Luckily the next day Nate's sister and her kids came over to bring a birthday card to Nate and Trey. So I hurried and made cup cakes. If she hadn't come over Trey wouldn't have had a birthday cake at all. Thank you Nicole!

Trey's cousin Laura was born two days after Trey, so we sang to them both. Neither of them has really figured out what to do with candles yet. Maybe next year.

Crap. That's the same as the card I was going to draw for Nate. I guess Nate won't get a card now, because I don't want to be compared. Not like Nate actually likes to celebrate his birthday with me anyway, though...

(Sidenote- I really do think that card is cute. This post is an attack on Nate, not on children's drawings, in case anybody that doesn't know me reads this...)
